Touch Commander released for WM
Oct 23, 07 08:17 AM PDT
HTC's TouchFLO interface has certainly picked up its fair share of rave reviews, and to have it cloned in the form of Touch Commander must surely mean something. This "unique application" is meant to control PDAs and smartphones by recognizing and responding to both touch and sweep of a finger across the screen. Touch Commander provides one-touch access to phone calls, emails, text messages, calendar, appointments, applications, and other frequently used programs. Compared to TouchFLO, Touch Commander goes one up by being customizable along with the ability to add or change applications launched from it. Touch Commander is compatible with WM 5.0 and WM 6 touchscreen devices, but requires Microsoft's .NET Compact Framework 2.0 as a pre-requisite. It is available for $14.95 today.

I've been running it on att tilt for a week or so. Buggy is the word. I like it, and need it, but it is frustrating at times. rebooting a phone all the time, whos got time for that? No one at touch commander responds to inquiries.

Tried it with Treo 750 would not work properly - no way to make it reappear once I did the downstroke thumb movement to make it disappear- upstroke thumb movement doesn't work.

I've been using the app. for about 6 days and very happy. Tried many large menu/task bar apps. and never satisfied. Can operate i760 with just thumb and not open calender instead of contacts in a moving car. Takes a little time getting the menus just the way you want them. Love the one touch dialing of a call from custom contacts list. They got my $15.

Agreed... not ready for prime time. Tried on Samsung i760, appeared to be a lot of "re-draw" bugs when switching out form apps to apps and landscape views.

I have a Cingular 8125 and find the Touch Commander to be very buggy.
I put my customized selections and it just copied it on multiple pages. It's not ready for prime time, yet.
