Wireless ECG patch
Oct 31, 07 08:19 PM PDT
IMEC from Belgium has developed a wireless ECG patch that helps minimize the discomfort of folks who have a heart condition and require round-the-clock monitoring. While this revolutionary device is still a few years away from being commercialized, the flexible wireless ECG patch already boasts the capability of doubling up as a dedicated heart rate monitor, sending either ECG or EMG data in a continuous stream to a computer or data logger. This data can be downloaded for a later viewing. The 175mAh battery can last up to a whole day in regular mode, and probably another few days if you're using it to collect just heartbeat data.
