Nintendo DS Lite to be redesigned?
Posted on Nov 15, 07 03:01 AM PDT

Just when you thought the DS Lite could do no wrong in terms of design, word on the street has it that Nintendo will be revamping its DS Lite in the near future, doing away with the GBA port (what the?!), throwing in more memory while enlarging its screen. I've no idea if this is a good thing as the DS Lite has always been an exceptional performer when it comes to battery life, and removing the GBA port doesn't make sense since some games require it to play. Nintendo has not issued any official comment, but I guess it is time for a redesign anyway if the Big N's track record is anything to go by. Hopefully we see lots of on-board memory...and I mean lots.

Well, the rumble feature could be added, but really no need on a handheld. It is just a luxury. The only thing that turns me off to this theory is that nintendo is releasing guitar hero where the entire GBA slot is needed to access the GH buttons(That is where they are plugged in). Of course they have left other features in the dust before for, "Better hardware," but this one seems a little to large to just drop off. Though, they may just make one for the new system if it comes out so that idea is paper thin. Otherwise, this looks like a good improvement and is welcomed by me.

Somehow that makes very little sense. Some accessories made by Nintendo themselves require that slot (I'm thinking in particular about the rumble pack). So unless they play to encorporate all that functionality into the unit that will impair the playing of some games. What would be nice would be to encorporate the browser and mp3 players into the flash on the unit and allow for either USB uploading of music files or add a memory slot to be used for that purpose.
