Volitan concept boat
Posted on Nov 15, 07 02:21 AM PDT

The Volitan concept boat looks a whole lot like the Imperial Shuttle in the Star Wars universe, using solid sails, wind power and solar energy in order to move around, making this one of the most environmentally-friendly sea vehicle ever - assuming it ever makes it into the production line. A networked computer will control the Volitan's systems, where sailing, wind and solar energy are used and stored in the boat's batteries with more than enough to make it operational whether day or night. The Volitan has been engineered to operate in up to 60 knot winds, folding up against the boat in extreme weather conditions. I wonder whether this is just too forward-thinking at this point in time, nevertheless it is encouraging to see green initiatives being started by more and more folks these days.
