2008 sees 12-inch notebook touchscreens

Looks like the second half of next year will see 12" notebooks come with touchscreen displays that are virtually indistinguishable from their view-only counterparts. AU Optronics is tipped to be working on a 12.1" LCD display that uses in-cell touch input, doing away with the need for a separate layer in order to sense contact from the user. This new techniuqe makes way for displays that are as slim as standard LCDs found these days compared to the bulky ones used in existing tablet PCs. Mass production ought to begin in the middle of next year onwards. Could the tablet PC range of devices experience a revival next year?
