Dell could re-enter smartphone race

Dec 5, 07 10:17 AM PDT

Dell could re-enter smartphone race Word on the street has it that Dell is on the verge of dipping its toes into the smartphone market yet again, with the Texas PC maker allegedly working with Taiwanese manufacturing firm Quanta on producing such a handset. It is also said that this new smartphone will focus more on music and video playback in addition to Internet access, but it has yet to be confirmed as to whether this device will be using a customized interface or off-the-shelf software. While there is no word on a concrete release date, chances are this Dell offering will hit the market sometime early next year. Perhaps we will see an announcement at CES 2008 ?
