NEC real-time translator on a cellphone

NEC has revealed to the world that it successfully developed a real-time translator on a cellphone, making it the first of its kind in the world. Currently, it will turn Japanese traveller's words into English instantly, bridging the communications gap by more than a mile. This is made possible by storing the software on a small microchip that can fit right inside a cellphone, capable of recognizing approximately 50,000 Japanese words for smooth translation of travel phrases such as "Can I have a subway route map?". While it is possible to come up with a vocal English translation technically, NEC is not going to entertain that idea at this point in time.
We haven't heard of anyone who has witnessed this new magic from NEC, so at the moment, take this as a "that's what NEC says"
