Panasonic rearview monitor system
Dec 13, 07 07:37 PM PDT

Panasonic is first off the blocks to sell a rearview monitor system that comprises of a camera and a monitor. This means the driver does not need to pick up a car navigation system to go along with this rearview camera system. Specifically developed to reduce the total cost, you get a 3.5" monitor with 320 x 240 resolution and a couple of image input terminals (one for the camera and the other for electronic devices). Whenever the shift level is moved to a reverse position, the system will automatically take that cue to display a rear view of the vehicle. As for the rearview camera, it is a 0.25" color CCD camera with 250,000 effective pixels and 134° (horizontal) and 103° (vertical) detection angles. The Panasonic Rearview Monitor System GP-PD107 will hit Japanese markets this December 17th for $356.
