Smart soccer ball knows when it crosses the line

In an intense soccer game, a small difference (like knowing whether or not the ball crossed the line) can make or break the game for one team. This ball knows when it crosses the line, thanks to the interaction between the embedded sensor and wires in the lines of the soccer field. The system has been tested with success in Japan and has been submitted to soccer regulators for a review. In the past, they have resisted using video footage or other modern equipment…
The idea of having a smart soccer ball isn’t really new. In 2005, we published about a smart soccer ball that could record its position 2000 times per second.
