3M Micro Projector

3M has just released its new Micro Projector that aims to be integrated into virtually any mobile platform, and the company claims that its LED-illuminated projection engine can throw a 40" VGA image from an ultra compact module that measures no larger than 0.5" in thickness. The image is purportedly of a high enough quality that does not have any speckles, using an advanced liquid crystal on silicon electronic imager with proprietary 3M optics technology to get the desired results. I wonder when will be the first consumer electronic devices that will utilize such projectors - imagine an iPod with a built-in projector!
