Dropped Calls With iPhone Update?

Word on the street has it that iPhone users who have upgraded to the 1.1.3 firmware are currently experiencing a higher rate of dropped calls, with an invisible gremlin following their handset to mysteriously turn a five bar signal strength to zero whenever you are talking, only to have it return to full strength when you hang up. Should one engage the services of the local shaman to rid their iPhone of this bug, or will the standard "jiggle the SIM card" procedure work this time? Is this true? Could any of our dear readers verify with this bit of news?

At the urging of the seemingly knowledgeable employee at my local Apple store, I updated my phone. BIG MISTAKE. Now my phone will only let me make emergency calls. I can't access my calendar, contactsw etc. I called and AT&T told me I had to call back during business hours. I have spent 3 hours today trying to fix this. Previously I spent hours trying to fix the problem of them (AT&T) charging me to go on line even though I had unlimited internet access. I love my phone, but AT&Ts service is unacceptable. My prior service, SPRINT, was far superior--however, their phones sucked.

I have had the same thing and it seems to get worse. I almost crashed my car today with it dropping out 4 times while talking to one person. I wish someone fix this before I smash my phone. All the bells and whistles mean nothing if the phone dose not work

Lots and lots of dropped calls over the past couple of weeks. I like the interface and gee-wiz extras, but if the actual "phone" part of the iphone continues to be this unreliable I'll have to switch to a more pedestrian device.

I had a three year old Audiovox SMT-5600 and NEVER EVER dropped calls and I live in NYC with lots of obstructions. Since getting the iPhone three weeks ago I drop at least 5-6 calls a day. Since I started out with 1.1.3 I have no frame of reference, but I'm really starting to get pissed off!

With the update, my Gmail won't work on my iPhone, even when removed and recreated. I have an increased number of dropped calls. Any idea when a fix from Apple will come? Wish I'd never updated. Any tips?

I am in OHio, and I have been recieving alot of dropped calls since this upgrade! Drives me nuts. I am going to check with AT&T/APPLE to find out what the deal is...

Is anyone having issues with their vibrating mechanism in their phone? Since this upgrade I noticed the phone's vibrate function does not work. Thoughts anyone?

There is without question a bug in 1.1.3. Whether it's faulty software, a bad firmware upgrade or some other issue...I don't know. I drop calls so often now that I have to warn (and apologize) to my clients and customers ahead of time so they are prepared. This is horrible. Apple says to go to AT&T and request a new SIM card. I am highly skeptical that this will work.

After upgrade to 1.1.3, calls will drop every few minutes. Signal bar will flip to zero. Hopefully Apple fix this quickly.

i have 1.1.3, jailbroken of course, and i now have horrible reception. my phone constantly drops calls. five bars to zero, and then they're back after the hang up is exactly it. i spoke with apple today about the problem, they suggested i restore again. no thank you, i'll deal with it until there is an actual fix.

Mine has been playing the same trick on me also.
I'm in the middle of the call and suddenly theirs only silence, when I look my iPhone the bars are all gone and shorty after the dreaded "No Service" message appears. Sometimes I have to reboot mine to get the bars back!!!

I thought it was just me, I'm glad I found you guys here.

I guess a patch will have to come and fix this issue.

Still loving my iPhone though!

Since updating I am also dropping calls constantly. I called AT&T they suggested a new sim card replacement (free). So now I'm home trying to get the new card to work and when I put the new card in itunes says this is not the card for your phone please put the old card in. ????

my iphone is dropping calls constantly. no problems with 1.1.2, and now with 1.1.3 my calls last no longer than 5 minutes. AT&T says to call Apple, and Apple says to call AT&T. I've read a ton of forums and blogs on this too. seems to be nationwide. i keep waiting for apple to "man-up" and make an announcement, or post a fix.

I have been experiencing drop-calls since day one, and I don't think it is because of the iPhone but because of AT&T. Their service sucks soooooooo much, I hate it. But the iPhone is the best device on the market (in my opinion) and I am willing to call a friend 5 times before we can finish our conversation...

I've definitely experienced dropped calls, which never happened before I upgraded to 1.1.3.
