Faster, Easier Typing For Windows Mobile
Posted on Jan 27, 08 05:30 PM PDT
Dasur from Israel has rolled out a couple of on-screen virtual keyboard applications that target the Windows Mobile platform - SlideIt and ThumbKey. The main reason behind both programs would be to enhance the on-screen typing experience, taking two very different routes to achieve the same objective. SlideIt uses sliding, prediction and graffiti where it requires the user to point to the first letter of a word, sliding to subsequent letters. Lifting up the stylus would result in a space. So far Dasur claims that a well versed user can achieve speeds of over 50 words per minute. As for ThumbKey, it uses a unique algorithm which enables users to press in the general vicinity of the required key for the intended word to appear. The algorithm will process typed letters, displaying possibilities next to the keyboard. So far, English, French and Hebrew are supported with plans to come up with keyboards in other operating systems and languages.

I tried SlideIt, very impressive and fun to use. The best keyboard, I know. I can recommend it warmly
