Future batteries could last longer

It is without a doubt that limited battery life is the bane of most devices these days, but Stanford University researchers have stumbled upon a discovery that could see laptop batteries operate for more than a day on a single charge. This is made possibly by utilizing silicon nanowires to provide rechargeable lithium ion batteries with approximately 10 times more charge, making a 40 hour battery life a more realistic target. A patent has already been filed for the technology involved, so hopefully that several years down the road, we will see a commercialized version made available to all and sundry.
