Gateway Desktops Does HD DVD and Blu-ray
Jan 30, 08 05:05 PM PDT

Guess Gateway is taking the moderate path by releasing new desktops which come with a Hyper SuperMulti drive which is capable of both HD DVD and Blu-ray playback. Of course, we all know that HD DVD suffered a mortal wound back at CES '08 earlier this month but who knows how Toshiba might turn things around (fire sales notwithstanding :P). Other than that bit of news, the rest of the system specifications include AMD's Phenom quad-core processors, 3GB RAM, and a slew of other doodads. The Hyper SuperMulti drive will only be available in the GM5664 though, while the GT5662 makes do with a mere 18× DVD±RW DVD burner. The GM5664 and GT5662 retail from $1,149.99 and $749.99 upwards, respectively.
