HTC Windows Mobile Smartphone Share Declines
Posted on Jan 29, 08 07:17 PM PDT

HTC has been knocked off its perch as the global top ranking vendor of Windows Mobile-based smartphones (not including touch screen models) after seeing its share of that segment drop under the 30% mark, leaving it lagging behind Motorola and Samsung Electronics according to Microsoft. Back in Microsoft's fiscal 2007, HTC's share was as high as over 50% - which means this drop is pretty serious. However, the overall picture still paints HTC as number one in the Windows Mobile-based PDA phone segment, providing nearly half the Windows Mobile-powered smartphones to the world. Will this number hold up? Probably not, since many other phone manufacturers are slowly but surely making their way into the touch screen segment as well.
