IR Transfer Speed Hits 1Gbps

Bluetooth and WiFi are certainly much faster and more efficient when it comes to transferring data between devices compared to IR (infrared), but KDDI R&D Laboratories have turned the tables upside down with its new technique that enables IR transfer speed to hit a whopping 1Gbps. That's 250 times more than the previous theoretical limit of 4Mbps. Not only that, data transfer is achieved in a stable environment, and KDDI has even proudly claimed that they can transfer a full music CD in under a second. Hopefully old gadgets will be able to be retrofitted with this new IR technology to further extend their service lifetime.
