Kinetic Energy Camera Concept

This is an interesting concept for a flying gadget: by rubbing the device between your hands, you provide enough energy for it to fly and to capture photos during the flight.
Useless but neat, huh?

Not sure I'd call it usless. I could see potential military applications for something like this. Foot soldiers could use it for field reconnaissance when they need a quick view of the surrounding landscape. Make the blades foldable so they could store it in an arm or leg pocket. Put a small rechargeable power source with a kinetic charger and motor to assist; it could even be spring loaded. All it would need to do is fly up about 50-60 feet and come back down. Then they could get quick a birds eye view snapshot of what’s around the next corner or over the hill. It would be cheap, light and easy to deploy with unlimited usage as long as you recover it each time. They could be so cheap and portable that a soldier could carry a number of them. Another potential approach would be a muzzle launched one-time use that would gain higher altitude for a much wider field of view and longer look with streaming video. It could be launched with the blades folded back, deploy them at the apogee and drift back down to earth. You could even make an IR version for night use. …I think it’s time to call the patent office.
