Maps app heads for iPhone, iPod touch

Looks like the iPhone and iPod touch will benefit from Skyhook Wireless' WiFi Positioning System (WPS) thanks to the Maps application that will be made available to both devices. WPS maps known WiFi signals through entire metropolitan areas in order to come up with a reading on exactly where the user is at that point in time. I don't think it will be as accurate as a real GPS device, but it sure beats scratching your head, wondering just where you are at this point in time in an unfamiliar place.
