REDFLY Mobile Companion For Smartphones

[CES 2008] Celio Corporation is coming up with a Mobile Companion for Smartphones. Some of you will think “wow, it’s like the Palm thing that didn’t work out”, but bear with us for a minute.

Unlike the late Foleo, REDFLY is not Linux-powered and it lets one use mobile outlook. Secondly, you don’t have to ask you IT guy to “approve” it, if you already work with a Windows Mobile device. Interested?

REDFLY is simply an extension a Smartphone, providing a shell with a battery (8 hrs), a full keyboard and an eight-inch display. There is also a VGA-Out and of course. REDFLY connects to the Smartphone via Bluetooth, or USB, in which case, it will also serve as a battery extender for the phone. REDFLY is compatible with Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices. At $499, the price stings (Asus Eee anyone?)

  • 8” Display
  • Full Keyboard
  • Touchpad Mouse
  • 8hrs battery Life
  • Bluetooth, USB (connect/charge)
  • VGA Port
  • 1x6x9 inches, 1.9lbs

REDFLY will be shown at CES 2008 at the Innovation Pavilion #IP250 (in the Sands Convention Center).

PS: it looks like the i-mate shell that we talked about at CTIA

Very good idea, but $500 for, basically, an external LCD/keyboard/mouse is ridiculous. I'd pay $200 maximum.
