Robovie Freaks Me Out
Posted on Jan 28, 08 07:36 PM PDT

Take one look at Robovie and kindly confirm with me that his eyes are nothing short of scary. While his main purpose is to be a mall rat, waiting for lost and confused folks to approach him for directions, the manufacturers ought to come up with a more aesthetically pleasing front before I'd open my mouth - let alone kids who tend to gravitate towards all things cute and soft. Robovie claims to be able to keep charge of 1,000 square feet of space with its 16 cameras, 6 laser range finders and 9 RFID tags which monitor a moving crowd, using a carefully crafted algorithm to determine if they are lost or not. Currently, Robovie can monitor up to 20 people simultaneously, making slower-paced malls a better place for him to work in.
