SanDisk Sansa View gets 32GB bump

[CES 2008] SanDisk, being the number two PMP player in the US market at the moment has just unveiled the 32GB version of Sansa View, doubling the capacity of its previous high end 16GB model. All other specifications and features remain the same, with the only difference being the memory bump. If you think that forking out $199.99 for the 16GB model is not good enough for you, the Sansa View 32GB model will hit the streets for $349. Do you think this will eat into the iPod's sales, or can they co-exist peacefully? ( Add a comment)

There is a microSD slot in it, SDHC to be precise, which means it will support up to 32Gb microSD cards

Well, the thing that's great about this is that it's flash memory and not a HDD. So, this is great for environments that may have shock involved. Jogging, motorcycling, etc.

The difference between this mp3 player and the other mp3 players with 30 gigs and higher capacity is the fact that it uses flash memory. It does not have a hard drive like the 80 gig zune and the 30 gig ipod. These are proned to failure after use of a year or so. Google Ipod hard drive failure. Since Sansdisk creates memory, they can create higher capacity flash memory that has no moving parts, and sell the mp3 players cheaper, as well as offer such a high capacity that other mp3 player manufacturer companies have been unable to do.

I don't understand...with products like Zune, 80GB for 250$, what are they thinking pricing it at 350$? It's only 32GB, It's not going to compete so well (although I will probably buy it)

$349 for 32GB? What's the market for this? People who don't want to hear the same song twice as they run across the country three times, aka Forrest Gump?

Hi dxace1, yes, the Sansa View 32GB retains all the previous features and specifications. Only the memory has increased (as well as price...)

Is there still a micro slot in this?
And does it retain voice recording and
all other functions?
