Sony has launched the DCR-HC52 mini DV Handycam that brings a powerful 40x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar zoom lens that makes it a snap to zoom onto distnat subjects without losing out too much on picture quality. It boasts a 680K-pixel CCD image and a 2.5" LCD touchscreen display. Sony positions this device as a family camcorder to record all your favorite growing-up memories in a well preservved format. Other features include an on-screen usage guide for easier navigation, Super SteadyShot image stabilization and color viewfinders. The DCR-HC52 will be available next month for $250 a pop.
