Toyota Pre-crash Safety System

Published on 01/22/2008

Passive and active safety systems in vehicles seem to get more and more common these days, making me wonder when the day will come where cars are so safe there is no need to buckle up anymore. Toyota's Pre-crash Safety System is touted to be the first in the world that can determine whether a driver's eyes are properly open. This feature will make its way into Toyota vehicles in Japan shortly, issuing a warning to the driver should his/her head position is out of whack or simply start to feel drowsy. I guess this means I can't lean my head against the window anymore during rush hour traffic or I will receive multiple, non-stop warnings.
