Under the Skin Microchip Tagging for Convicts in the UK

Posted on: January 14, 2008

Microchip implant

The UK government is discussing the introduction of computer chips implanted under the skin of offenders in order to reduce prison overcrowding, They plan to monitor convicts’ whereabouts using these chips and satellite technology. Liberty, a civil right group, has criticized the project, arguing that it would degrade prisoners and hinder their rehabilitation.

In my opinion, jail time is more degrading than being at home and monitored using this kind of technology.

Degrading!?! How do you think the victims of the crimes feel? Sure let them out, monitor their whereabouts and hope they don't find a way to remove the device nad re-implant it in a dog or cat from their neighborhood! They are criminals, people! This is too good for them. Let them rot in prison. Degrading? Too touchy-feely for me.
