Vista Replacement A Long Way Off
Posted on Jan 28, 08 07:34 PM PDT

For folks who have recently purchased Windows Vista and have heard rumors of Windows 7 being released early next year, hold your ground. Microsoft has already issued an announcement from a company spokesperson that Vista's successor would be way too far away for a commercial release next year. It will take approximately three years to develop, so I guess that's a pretty safe bet that Vista will be around for still quite some time. Not as long as Windows XP, but it won't be so soon before a successor comes around either. As for me, I'm still giving my XP plenty of love - how about you?

Our office installed Vista on a half dozen machines. That lasted 30 days (the length of the trial period). Following that XP was reinstalled on every system because of employee demands. Like the others, we'll wait for Windows 7 (or whatever it'll be called)...

I bought a new laptop with Vista about 1 year ago and it's horrible. I'm going back to XP

I don't see what all the fuss is over Vista. It works fine if you know what you're doing, and the changes are childs play. Stop whining. Vista worked out of the box and XP was initially worthless. Give it a chance people, XP took 2 years to become useable, and Vista is fine. Just turn off User Account Control and voila, you have XP.

I´ll stick with XP, leapfrog vista, and wait for the next upgrade - what´s the betting it´ll be called "view" or "scenic"

Im keeping my XP and have downgraded the two new laptops that have come into my family...too much overhead and useless changes. I dont understand why I should learn a new system and deal with new incompatibilities just to get has transparencies on the desktop
