$17k Blu-Ray Player

Just when you though that the high-price tag and the relatively small library was the thing that was holding consumers back*, Goldmund starts to sell a player for $16900. For that price, you get all sorts of technical jumbo-mumbo that would lead you to believe that the experience would be better. “Better”? May be, but how much better? Not $16500 better, I’m sure.
*assuming that $200 is a consumer-friendly price for such a device)

$16,900... because you know consumers at that price point need to be psychologically tricked into thinking it's quite a bit cheaper than 17K (which would clearly be too much for this). Why not $16,999.99?
