Rumor: Sony PS3 Slim?

Word on the street has it that there is an all new Sony PS3 which supposedly sheds the rather fat and ugly image of the current model. This rumor could be true, considering Sony's track record in slimming down their consoles - starting with the PSX to the PS2 Slim. Chances are the only modifications will be cosmetic in nature, so don't expect the innards to deviate too far away from the true path. I must say that the probability of having a chip instead of software emulation to play PS2 games are next to impossible with this supposed new iteration, and would I dare venture that this slimmed down version will feature a new 160GB hard drive? What do you guys think?

it would be great if sony slims down the current ps3 system. it's really bulky. i just hope that they don't overprice it.

the ps3 is fat as hell but lets not forget packing blueray and a great hd system into what it is now is hard bt slimming it down is no doubt it wil be slimmed in around 1 year since it took the ps2 around 4 years and psp like 4 as well

The fatboy PS3 may be killer in its featuring of integrated blu-ray but it's so ugly it's like Sony hired designers to make it extra ugly on purpose. Honestly, a slim-down is the least they can do, not to mention taking away that stupid bulge on the side. What is it, pregnant or something?

The current ps3 looks like a chunk of the road just got boxed up... honestly if it cant even fit in a display shelf and not melt the things nearby ill be happy (remember power doesnt mean everything its the design that counts as wel)(plus im hoping they get rid of there stupid spiderman font they are overusing)

The recent victory of Blue-ray over HD-DVD sure gives the ps3 an edge over the xbox360. BD is the format of the future and the cheapest player of the format is the ps3. Xbox360 has a standard DVD slot and had an option for an external HD-DVD drive.
Post Sony's format victory, Microsoft has dumped its HD-DVD drive plans and is in conversation with sony about getting a Blue ray drive for the 360.
Way to go Sony!

Man, that looks suspiciously like a PS2 Slim crossed with a Wii... Am I the only one who sees it like that? At least, the shot on the left does. The shot on the right looks more PS3-ish.
