Most shoes these days are made out of rubber and a combination of synthetic materials - the Biomass Hadashikko shoes are different as it uses soft polylactic acid resin, a type of biomass material that is famous for being made out off cornstarch as well as different starches. "Hadashi" in Japanese means barefoot, and producing such shoes would result in a reduction of CO2 emissions. Each pair of shoes are specially designed using a database of toe data from children’s foot measurements. Go green with the Biomass Hadashikko shoes which will be available in Japan at the end of this month for approximately $28 a pair.
