Corsair 16GB Flash Voyager GT

Corsair has introduced an updated version of its Flash Voyager GT drive that will bring 16GB of storage space to the masses, minus the speed sacrifice that often comes with the territory of extra capacity courtesy of an advanced memory controller and hand-picked flash chips. Corsair claims that this new release will feature a nearly quadruple speed boost over similar drives. So far in controlled lab tests, this USB flash drive is capable of transferring a 1.6GB movie within 98 seconds, while older designs take up to half a dozen minutes. Features include a shock- and water-resistant rubber shell and TrueCrypt software to secure your sensitive data with 256-bit AES encryption. The Corsair 16GB Flash Voyager GT retails for $170 each.

i agree with the first post. Its slow, i get between 5 - 8 MB transfer speed in fat32. I've checked the corsair forum and i'm not the only one.

Purchased a 16 GB GT.... returned it 2 days later. Under NTFS format it is 2 times slower than FAT32. So choose, slow or no dvd images and backups!
Small files write performance unbelievably slow.
SLC memory until 8GB has been dumped for cheaper MLC memory.
Corsair DID NOT disclose such information, so gives money back officially to those who purchased until march 30.

For LE - No it's nothing new - they are just releasing an updated 16gb version MINUS any speed loss you would normally get. The real world tests so far show it is pretty much as fast as an 8gb version and that is actually pretty rare. Then it has all the extras and @ $170 when you can find one thats $17 more expensive than the current Amazon price fr the 8gb version - which is a massive price drop on the horizon. Don't be fooled these drives ARE the dogs whatzits when it comes to usb - 32gb would be great sure - but for some things a capacity loss for even more money is still worth it. There's a 10 year warranty here too after you get the best package, speed and durability around. For value for money it eats almost any usb stick hands down.

So the math on that example is only 16mb/s.. how disapointing, hopefully it's an error.. there 8gb model which I own is much faster than that, almost double, infact @ 30mb/s.

Are they saying this is faster than their older GT series? The Voyager GT is nothing new, so is this an improvement or are they just releasing a 16gb version.
