Rumor: Dell Could Buy Motorola
Posted on Feb 10, 08 06:04 PM PDT

We all know that Motorola isn't in great shape, but then again neither is Dell after losing its position to HP as the top selling computer brand in the world. Nevertheless, Dell’s market capitalization is almost twice the size of the Motorola one, and word on the (wall) street has it that the former could be showing some interest in picking up Motorola's bleeding cell phone division.
Some people are speculating that Dell might partner with Google after picking up Motorola's cell phone division to create a possible GPhone which runs on the Android technology platform.
Of course, these are just speculations and we think that it doesn’t make as much sense as some would think. If Dell wanted to go into the phone business, they could simply go to a Taiwanese ODM like HTC. The question is: what value would Dell add to a phone?
