LG Rumor Is Scoop At Alltel

The LG Rumor from Sprint will soon be available on Alltel Wireless, although it will experience a change in name. This time, the Rumor has transformed into the Scoop, although you can't eat any ice cream with this. The candybar LG Scoop features a sliding QWERTY keyboard, support for Axcess Voice2TXT that changes voicemail into text messages, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot and MP3 playback. If you're interested in picking up the scoop, it retails for $60 after a $40 mail-in rebate. Oh yeah, and you gotta sell your soul to Alltel for two years, too.

The phone makes texting very easy but I have had many problems with the phone. First for every 5 text messages I send only 3 get to the person but this could be an Alltel problem rather than the phone. The phone no longer alerts me to missed calls and voice message alerts are hit or miss.

I got the LG Scoop about a week and a half ago. It was ok when I first got it. I did notice that it takes a long time to send texts (which is a big downfall considering that its main marketing point is its texting capability) and it often would take a lot of time to make calls. Then, on the third day I had it, it shut off, and when it came on it had wiped out all of my programming on it. It had erased my phone number and everything, as if it had never been programmed! I returned it the next day and got a new one, only to have it do the same thing 2 days later! I returned that one as well, and figured I would give the scoop one last shot. So far, this is day three.

ok i got this phone today and ppl are like it is a poser phone, NO IT ISN'T. ok it is the same exact phone just a different name so to ne one that calls it the "poser" phone, you are soooo wrong. but ya i got my rumor and i loooove it! i got the blackish bluee 1!!!!!!!!!!!

to the ppl who r having problems with the phone freezong while txting-if u put the phone master sound to on it doesnt freeze,but if i have my phone on beep or vinrate or silent it constantly freezes during txting hop this helps

i have the rumor from sprint and have noticed a few things about the phone that have been mentioned on this sight i think along with a soft wear update and as the technology gets better that this phone is the best marcetting tool ive seen so far it has alot of features that are a good idea i hope in the future they plan to put a fm transmitter on it like the fusic has that would be great other than that ive found no serious issues but remember to put insurance on this phone i bought mine for 150 and having a replacement is always a good idea no matter what phone you have.

This phone actually does suck if you go near any type of water because say like my two phones did they dropped into a pool because of a toddler and they were less then two minutes in the pool and now they wont work at all so id reccomend it for people who dont go near big bodies of water or pools alot

I've had my phone for almost a month now. I read all the reviews before hand and I was scared. The day I got it I had it on celltop, and when I shut it, the screen distorted. As soon as I pressed a button it went away, and it only did it a few times after that. Sometimes going into celltop the phone does restart itself. The battery is very good, though. I can go a few days without charging it. I have also noticed the lag in texting. I text normally (I'm still getting used to the keyboard) and it does skip letters completely or the letters come up late. I did figure out that if you delete your inbox completely and then restart your phone it makes it better. Not completely always, but it does make it a little better. I understand the frustration some people using this phone are going through. I had to go through a lot to get the phone, and I don't want to take it back and have to go through it all again. I have the Scoop (obviously the only difference is Alltel). And Alltel customer service SUCKS. It is a better phone than my previous one. Though I did drop my previous phone in the toilet and it worked fine until last month. I dropped that one in February. All in all I have mixed feelings on this phone. I think if the software would update like it's supposed to, it might be better. I also think it's kind of the luck of the draw. And whoever said up there that it's how you treat the phone, that's really not it. I have not dropped my phone or gotten it wet once, and my has been having some problems since day 1. It is a good texting phone if you get one that doesn't lag, though. Great for anyone who loves to text. I still love it even with the problems. I have an orange one, and the color is still really bright, the keys haven't faded at all.I think all new phones when they come out have problems. So if you're so worried about it that you're going to swear at a phone, wait until they update it or something. Good luck. (:

I have had the RUMOR since March, and I have had nothing but problems with it. When Sprint first let this phone out in stores, apparently the software on it was outdated. I have the white one, its a little newer than the original version, and i STILL got the outdated software. It wont update firmware, it freezes on me and I have to take the battery out, it lags when I text, and it shuts off automatically when I get 2 texts at the same time, or when im sending a text when someone tries to call me. I took it in and exchanged it last week, and my new one does the exact same stuff. THIS PHONE IS HORRIBLE! Not worth the money.

Okay, I was just wondering overall if it was a good phone.
And if you are a newfound owner - I don't want to hear for you, because a LOT of phones are wonderful as soon as you get them.
So I'm getting the turqouise prepaid alltel 134.99 dollar lg scoop :)
I'm deff not interested in all the extra stuff - bluetooth, internet, mp3s, ect.
I'm getting the phone for the camera, texting, sider-sliding capabilities :), and it's calling.
So if you could please tell me, I'm going to be buying it very very soon. (as in - tomorrow :D) so yep ... if you guys could please give me an honest opinion - give it to me very soon! :)

Okay guys, so I'm getting this phone on friday, today is Thursday.
It should be here about tuesday, because sat/sun are not business days.
I would deff love to know if this is a good phone OVERALL. :)
Because I don't want to go thru all this trouble just to get a horrible phone.
I'm not interested in bluetooth, internet, or all of those extra features.
I just got it for the texting, pics, and calling.
So, I've decided on the turqouise.
And I'm very excited, but I would love to know if I'm getting a good phone.
(and i don't want to hear from the people that just got it - i want long-time owners please! ((at least a month!)))

at alltel its all together the cost is 135.00 but thats only if its prepaid with no contract the phone only is 79.99 plus $20 for calling minutes and to activate is about 35 dollars

i have the rumor from SPRINT. it is NOT A LEMON. ive had it since st.patricks day. today is june 25. my fone...wow i treat it likye its a peice of sh**. i throw it,, drop it,,stepp on it. it works fine just that the A buttin is kinda fading in the middle. and the litte shiny gray-ish buttons on da side,,da paint comes off very easily. the arrow buttons on da front,,buttons r MAJORLY faded. my fone only has laggy txting because it fell in the toilet (it still works PERFECTLY fine) da camera is bad tho and it is VERY BLURRY unless you have major light. i say u get sprint cuz there is NO contract. i luv it!!

I would like to see more reviews say 2 to 6 months after the phone is received. One day or one week isn't much help when I am looking at signing a 2 YEAR contract on it.

Alright, heres the deal. I have a scoop, my keyboard works fine, i text very quickly and notice no lag on my phone, i have my share of downloads on it and it does not shut off, or slow down for that matter. It doesnt blur the pictures like most people think, and the keyboard slides out just fine. The numbers havent faded on the face, and the keys havent faded on the keyboard... There is nothing wrong with this phone unless the person who has it doesnt take care of it like they should. All in all, my siganl is clear, my texting is fine, and my phone is still in tip top shape.

This phone is horrible. Ive had it about 3 months and my #s r faded, my slide out keyboard doesnt work and i took it off the charger the other day and my picture was blurred. Now everything is blurred, i cant see what im doing cant make a call or send a text! and i dont have water damage b/c i compared it to a friend who had just got hers. I know somebody else that has gone thru 3 of these and finally decided 2 get a different 1. Over all im NOT happy with this phone and i dont recommend it to anybody!!

i think that this phone is ok. It is very cute, but I have noticed a few problems, like it is slow when texting on the keyboard and when i hit the back button too fast, it deletes the whole message. Also everytime i send a text and then I go back to "sent messages", there is a little envelope next to the message that has an arrow on it. At first i thought that it meant that the person hadnt gotten the message yet, but then the person would text me back and the symbol would still be there, so i know they got it. But this is my first texting phone so its ok to me.

i hate the lg scoop!! like most people have said when texting you have to type slowly or it will just skip letters also the only way to have songs as your ring tones is to download them from alltel.... screw that! i had tons of songs on my last phone so i bluetoothed them to my new phone and i cant do anything with them! im in the process of trying to return it but i purchased it from the alltel website.BAD IDEA. noone can tell me where to send it to. alltel has HORRIBLE customer service and their network sucks! i cant wait for my contract to be up!

I ordered a scoop tonight for my daughter and I was told that the memory card is an accessory that is a must for this phone. To help keeping it from shutting down or slowing down. The more that goes on it and all will slow it down or cause it to shut down.

I just got the turqoise one yesterday and I LOVE it. The only thing I've noticed is the camera is a little slow to respond. I love the keyboard. I do have issues using the numbers when I'm typing on the keyboard.

I just got the LG Scoop from alltel yesterday. So far, I love it. It has a few problems (for example: it cuts offf sometimes & also at times is slow texting) but all you have to do is turn it off & back on & its good again. This is the best phone Ive had compared to my last phone, the Moto ROKR which SUCKED. i went through 6 of them before deciding to buy a new phone.

the most frustrating things about this phone to me are that: a)the texting freezes up and makes it difficult to communicate with others--the point of the qwerty keyboard is to enable easier texting--this completely defeats the purpose of that!! and b) when texting, sometimes when I have spent alot of time texting a long message, hitting the backspace once will erase the whole thing! does anyone have any suggestions for these things??

I think you should get the orange, i have one and its really nice looking. The blue gets washed out easialy ( it also picks up other scratches and colors) and the grey is really dark and spooky.

my guy at my store says the turning on and off by itself means it is downloading updates.he also said to turn the phone off everyday for atleast 10 sec and turn back on..it helps to keep it running fast while texting

same as above. when using celltop it randomly restarts and resets all of my settings like the weather of my city, my stocks, and even the color that i have saved. in vibrate i noticed a lag in typing while in class and i hit back to fix it and it erased everything. i have had the phone flashed in store and have had them check it while on the phone with them. Finally they said they are waiting for a software update from lg. recommended i call back in 2 weeks. The least they could do is text me when it is available. POOR SERVICE if you ask me. But it still is the best phone i have ever had just wish i would work right.

Just today I have gone to the Corporate store in my area, 5 TIMES!!!
And everytime, it does the same thing.
It starts to shut off, then turn back on. Stays on for a minute. Then does it all again.
Going off and on.
It's extremely annoying.

i like this phone but the problems i have with it are ridiculous.. while typing with the keyboard it randomly skips letters and sometimes when i hit "back" to delete a letter it deletes the whole message. i went back to Alltel to complain and I guess it is a software glitch, they are working on getting it fixed and the guy told me they should have a downloadable update soon- which you can reach from the "settings" place in the menu. hopefully it will be fixed soon.. how annoying!!!

I would think this is a software glinch in terms of the shutoff and laggy keyboard.. i would just wait it out for a firmware update

Hey you guys! I've had this phone for about 3 weeks, it works ok until last night I found out my phone doesn't accept calls half the time it's on!! I can make calls out, but this is horrible! Has anyone else experienced this problem?????

Bought my daughter one less than a month ago, and she has had nothing but problems. The screen goes white, the phone shuts off randomly. When she slides the phone open the screen is messed up. Waiting on new one, very disappointed!!!!!!!!

I have had the phone for about a week now and is loving it i have no problems with my phone tho my keyboad works fine... it has only turned off one time.. and thats the only thing that went wrong with my phone.. so far im loving the SCOOP

I experienced problems with this phone from the moment I stepped out of the store. It shuts itself off at random, the key board doesn't work half the time. (it skips letters frequently and is very slow to use. I text faster the old, traditional way!) Also, the volume buttons on the side of the phone take me to the menu at times, and when I go to unlock the phone, I have to press the 'unlock' button at least twice before it senses it. I did a DOA claim as well and got a new phone. I loved this phone when I first saw it, and it has a really great look to it, but unfortunately I think it needs more work. Definitely not worth paying full retail for at this point. I would give it another shot after they work the bugs out though!

I'm experiencing MAJOR problems with this phone. My razor was accidently dropped in water not too long ago so I bought the new LG Scoop. The keyboard worked fine for the first day until the second day, the keyboard's keys act VERY slow. You would type in a phrase and it would come up 10 seconds later with at least 5-15 letters missing from what you just typed. I took the phone back and filed a "DOA" claim or a "Dead On Arrival" claim which means the phone had problems from the beginning when I first purchased it. The SECOND phone that I recieved was fine the first day until the second day AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN THE KEYBOARD IS MESSING UP.
What do I do?

hey i use my last phone LG ax8600 and i loved that phone but i used it pretty hard and it last up to one year for me. but for this phone Scoop, will it be useful on me cuz i use phone hard :P

This is a terrible phone. I have gone through two of them now, and they both have the same flaws. It shuts itself off 4 or 5 times a day, just goes black suddenly and then I have to re-boot it. For some reason, if I have the ringer on silent of vibrate and they keyboard buttons don't make sound, they hang up terribly and it takes a LOOONG time to write even short messages because you have to slowly push each button, about 1 every two seconds, or else it will skip. It also has problems trying to connect to other phones via bluetooth, and shows an error message when trying to accept transfers.

This phone is a really great buy! I got one when it first came out and I thought it might be a little diffrent getting use to the menu and whatnot but its really easy to use.Aslo I never really liked texting... but now that I have this groovy keyboard has deff. changed my mind My boyfriends phone broke about a week after I got my new phone... so of corse he comes home and says look waht i got! So I have the blue one and he has the black one.... the only downfall is there is no flash with the camera but you can change the brightness on the phone... so that makes up for it

Kisha, for one, all caps is not your friend. Second, the only complaints you have about this phone are pointless features that are worthless in perspective.
The phone is built well, has decent battery life, good sound quality, nice features, and overall it's worth every penny compared to the other cellphones on the market. Oh, but don't buy it, you can't change the key tones.

THE LG SCOOP LOOKS NICE BUT THATS ABOUT ALL. I SHOULD HAVE KEPT MY LG AX490 IT WAS TEXT FRIENDLYLIKE THIS ONE. I LOVE THE COLOR OPTIONS BUT THERE IS NO FLASH FOR THE CAMARA AND YOU CAN NOT SET YOUR VOICE CLIPS AS YOUR RINGER LIKE OTHER PHONES. IT DOESN'T HAVE THAT MANY SPECIAL FEATURES LIKE SETTING YOUR KEY TONES TO A DIFFERENT SOUND AND SETTING YOUR UP, DOWN, LEFT, AND RIGHT BUTTON TO WHAT MENU ITEM YOU WANT IT TO BE.

I JUST got this phone today and I already love it. I probably would've sold my soul to Alltel if I had to! I am SO glad that my parents loved me enough to get it for me. I was trading in my old phone because it sucked and had tons of glitches. (It was the Soho Kyocera.) And the lady was supposed to give me a different phone that I would have no choice in choosing. But, she said that Alltel just came out with this deal that if you want to choose whatever phone you want, you just have to pay 50 bucks. BINGO. And now, I can also text as much as I want. LOVE IT!

My daughter and I also purchased the blue for me and the slate gray for her. We are enjoying them. The downside is we are restricted from using our old music tones and Alltel requires us to re-purchase our ring tones. Wish they would fix this and send out update.
