Linux Runs On Wii
Posted on Feb 27, 08 10:58 PM PDT

The people at Game Cube Linux claim to have developed a proof of concept version of Linux that runs on the Nintendo Wii in native mode, exploiting the quirk known as the Twilight Hack which allows external software to be loaded without having to perform specialized hardware modifications. This hack will trick the system into loading code from an SD memory card, and hence we have Linux on the Wii. Hopefully Nintendo opens up its platform to third party developers in order to be on par with Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 where third party development is concerned.
