Microsoft Could Acquire Yahoo!

Microsoft has truly jolted everyone out of their seats by announcing that they are putting up an offer to buy Yahoo!, once seen to be their main rival until the colossus known as Google overtook both companies by surprise. It seems that this deal will involve Microsoft forking out $31 per share - the total of that amounts to a cool $44.6 billion. Microsoft claims that the acquisition will be a win-win situation, as both of them can eliminate overhead while saving a billion dollars each year. Yahoo! has not yet released any statement concerning the offer, but being all alone is beginning to sound more and more like a death sentence for the beleaguered dot com outfit who has recently decided to lay off 1,000 workers. Do you think this deal will work out, are there more surprises to come?
