Slacker Ships Slacker Portable
Posted on Feb 1, 08 12:08 AM PDT

Slacker has finally gotten to shipping its Slacker Portable device after months of delays. To recap, this unique device functions as both an online and offline radio station, allowing users to download and play preset or user-created content channels via WiFi. This results in a virtually unlimited stream of music which can be accessible even when offline, thanks to a maximum of 8GB of memory. The 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models will retail for $200, $250 and $300 respectively. It would be interesting to see how its subscription model will affect other online music retailers in the coming fiscal year.
