User-set Multitouch Patent Filing
Feb 19, 08 07:48 AM PDT

Apple looks set to revolutionize the touch-based user interface further with this filing that enables users to define their very own gesture-based commands in Mac OS X. I guess this is a pretty viable idea as many people like to customize their user interface experience, and one person has different preference from another. This patent filing from Apple will see a control panel add basic and advanced levels of multitouch control to existing trackpad options. Should you be a little bit more adventurous and try the advanced mode, you can always opt for different finger patterns, chords and even different swiping motions. There is no word on an official release of hardware that uses this patent, but we will probably see something interesting from Cupertino in the near future.
