Asus Eee PC To Evolve

Guess the Asus Eee PC won't remain stagnant, as rumors about that the next iteration will come with the following (welcome) features :-

  • New model will be be named the Eee PC 900
  • 1GB RAM will be standard (up from 512MB)
  • SSD storage capacities of up to 12GB will be available
  • The overall size should remain the same since the Eee PC 900 will use the same case as the current 700 series
  • The base price will jump from 299€ to 399€
The Eee PC 900 has been tipped to be released this summer, and it ought to pack a faster processor to boot.

The 7 " model (701) has an underclocked Intel chipset + Celeron M900 ULV (ultra low voltage), wich can by overclocked above 1 GHz. It has Xandros Linux OS, therefore is 512 Mb enough memory. The new 9" wil come with an Atom processor. But that's not sure. OS will maybe M$ XP and that OS needs 1Gb to go smoothly. I hope I can choose Linux. I already have a tiny XP at home.

By higher resolution on 8.9 inch screen? backpackcomputing.com , 03/03/08 2:13 PM (CommentID #529207)

I'm glad to see that the resolution on the 8.9 inch screen is increasing. I'm also hoping to see wi-fi N, but that probably will not arrive until the next iteration. If you're interested check out backpackcomputing.com for the products latest in the in sub-notebook and mobile market. In addition to the current Eee PC, ackpackcomputing.com has a link to rebates of up to $150 off the newest Apple MacBooks and Air.
