Garmin GPSMAP 495
Posted on Mar 26, 08 11:52 PM PDT

Garmin has a brand new GPS system that does not target road users but pilots instead. The GPSMAP 495 helps pilots by furnishing them with the necessary information required to fly safely from start to finish, courtesy of a high resolution terrain database that features various options such as “terrain and obstacle alerting, pop-up alerts, and customizable minimum clearance limits that give audible terrain alerts at specified altitudes.” In addition, it also can relay information about regional taxiways and airports. The GPSMAP 495 will be made available for purchase from early next month onwards, retailing for $1,595 thereabouts.
