Live Apple TV Recording To Come?

Apple could actually have long term plans for their Apple TV set-top box, throwing in additional functionality so that it may transform into a full fledged digital video recording if these new filings with the US Patent and Trademark Office are anything to go by. The filings suggest a unique interface for the Apple TV, with the ability to browse and record live TV programming apart from downloading movies and TV shows sold through iTunes. I wonder if TiVo executives have already sat up and taken notice of this patent filing, as Cupertino could be a potential rival a few years down the road.

Well at it's current pace Apple would have a good viable product in about a decade.
