London Police Suspicious of Photographers
Posted on Mar 6, 08 08:25 AM PDT
The London metropolitan police has started a communications campaign that urges citizens to report a suspicious photo activity. The idea is that terrorists could be doing surveillance work to plan an attack. They could, for example locate security cameras and so on…
There might be an argument for doing so, but I honestly doubt that from a security perspective, this is going to be efficient. It is probably not very hard to get such information in a discrete way - discrete enough so that normal citizens would not notice. Of course, you can expect an avalanche of civil right complains and so on…
If you’re in London taking pictures, make sure to not look too suspicious ;)

Times were when I could enjoy my hobby
Recently, I've been called all sorts of unsavoury things, all because I have "paparazzi" kit and a passion for reportage-genre subjects
Perhaps, because of that, I'm a security risk too?
