Epson And E Ink Have New Controller
Posted on Apr 17, 08 12:30 AM PDT

Epson and E Ink have co-developed a new controller which will allow e-paper displays to feature touch control for its user interface as well as various interactive elements. I'm pretty sure this also means users will be able to write notes directly on the display, but that remains to be seen as the new controller will only be available in production quantities come this August. Since this new display is able to address a fair number of screen regions simultaneously, future devices powered by this chip will be able to boast a fast menu interface, simple animations, higher grayscale levels, and user input through typing and touch. This controller is able handle up to 16 tasks simultaneously, and has a maximum resolution management of 2,048 x 1,536.
