Intel To Help Deter Laptop Thefts
Posted on Apr 2, 08 11:24 AM PDT

Intel announced that it is working on an intitiative that will make it less desirable for laptop theft to happen. That statement alone got me thinking - are laptops so advanced that they know how to secrete some sort of itching fluid to irritate the hell out of the thief? Nothing of that sort it seems, as Intel's main focus is to include the ability of a laptop to lock down it's storage and perhaps even processor should it be stolen, thus rendering the laptop useless. Known as the Intel Anti-Theft Technology (ATT), it isn't quite ready yet to be incorporated into newer machines, but with time that ought not be a too far-fetched idea. The fruits of Intel's labor is expected to be unveiled in Q4 this year, so keep your fingers crossed till then.
