Tech-On has an interesting question: is microelectromechanical (MEMS) sensors or embedded cameras better at motion sensing? MEMS uses an acceleration and geomagnetic sensor while analyzing the image from a plain digital camera can tell us what motion the host device is performing. You probably guessed it: they are very different: cameras are very common, so the installed based is huge. However, it requires a much more processing and is limited by the lighting conditions. My take is that in absolute terms, MEMS is better, but economic reality makes it so that both ways are being researched and used on the market. What’s do you think?
