MSI of Taiwan has recently ratted out the following specifications for its Wind notebook.

I read that the launch date in the U.S. is June 3rd and will be available at such places as Costco and Best Buy.

Does anyone know if you can play DVDs on it?

If the prices were $200+ lower, I'd consider buying one instead of a full sized laptop.

"Is this a HP 2133 clone?" > um... there's a lot of ultra mobile PCs (UMPC) being released this year. The Asus EEE PC was released last year already (and became an instant hit). but the concept of UMPCs isn't anything new really. I found a Pentium-II computer with small form-factor in a friends garage, it wasn't working, but was probably sold during the mid 90's. The trend of UMPCs is changing however, especially from a user-perspective. Technology has advanced much faster that the users demand. The average Joe doesn't need a quad core processor (or even dual core) for every day computing. Developers like AMD and Intel are beginning notice this trend, and strives therefor to deliver new cheap technology and products for the mainstream market. Intel Atom together UMPCs are fabrication of this trend. In that sense, we really can't say that these products are being clones of another product. because there is really no one being original about it. it is a trend. and computer companies are willing to join it. I look forward for MSI Wind because they have made the best choice of hardware in their product. Does anyone know when it is going to be released?

@candide: 'What a piece of crap. Do they really expect people to buy this? Maybe if it goes for $50 or less.' That depends on what you use it for. I for one would welcome a 'true' portable for my mobile work. I'm tired of lugging around a 'heavy' workhorse for my light word processing needs and email functions. If you could recommend such a lightweight at this price, what would you suggest instead?
