Verbatim announces 500GB Portable HDD

Verbatim is proud to announce the first 500GB 2.5" portable hard drive in the world that boasts an industry standard 9.5mm Z-height drive. Measuring roughly the same size as the average PDA, this SmartDisk line portable HDDs will begin to ship when Q2 2008 rolls around, offering both Windows and Mac users another 500GB worth of storage space on their respective computing platforms. This new portable HDD is also a snap to carry around on your travels without weighing you down as it tips the scales at less than 6 ounces and measures 3.38" x 5.38" x 0.63". Other features inclulde a 5400rpm spindle speed and 8MB of cache memory. It will come with either a USB interface or a Combo FireWire/USB interface, where the latter is a wee bit more expensive over the sub-$300 USB interface model.
