Hanyoung Lee's Virtual Wall concept draws up a barrier consisting of plasma laser beams, depicting pedestrians crossing the road. Any vehicle that chooses to ignore it won't get incinerated by the laser, but at least it helps the more absent minded be more alert whenever there is a pedestrian crossing right smack in front. Best to make this solar-powered as having plenty of these throughout the city will certainly put a strain on the city's power consumption.
