Double Amputee Sprinter heads for Beijing
Posted on May 19, 08 02:49 AM PDT

Double amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius has been given the go ahead to participate in the upcoming Beijing Olympics after winning his appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The court ruled that his prosthetics do not give him an unfair advantage, but frankly I don't see the whole point to this exercise. What's to stop a blind man from installing ocular implants in the future that gives him more than just perfect vision to participate in a shooting event? What about someone who uses mechanical arms to swim? After all, there is a reason for the Special Olympics, but what irks me is where the line is drawn in this case.

I completely agree with Darren and think that no mechanical prosthetics or the like could ever replace the human body.

I am sure if the other athletes want the same "advantage" they can have there legs, or arms, or eyes removed.
