Fastra Desktop Supercomputer

Researchers from the University of Antwerp have conjured a supercomputer for those on a budget, thanks to the use of four Nvidia 9800 GX2 graphics cards which amounts up to eight GPUs with 1,024 stream processors, offering a performance that is roughly the equivalent of 350 modern CPU cores. Meant more for the new computational method known as tomoraphy, this set up is well suited since it can be performed in parallel and is highly vectorized. It won't be suitable for general computing work such as working out your next business proposal in Microsoft Word though.
