HandTalk Communication Glove

Published on05/12/08

Engineering students at Carnegie Mellon University have developed the HandTalk, an interactive communication glove which are able to translate finger and hand gestures into spoken words. I guess this is pretty much a language translator, giving those who know zilch about sign language a chance to know what the deaf/hard of hearing are trying to communicate. The first version has a 32 word limited vocabulary, but that is better than nothing. Hopefully more research can be made and turn this into a fully fledged communications tool for the masses in the near future.
