Hitachi Updates CinemaStar Line
May 28, 08 11:25 PM PDT

Hitachi has expanded its CinemaStar line of hard drives by unveiling the C5K320 and the 5K500, where the former is a 2.5" hard drive while the latter is of the 3.5" variety. As with all other 2.5" hard drives, the C5K320 is able to store up to 320GB of data while the larger 5K500 can store half a TB. Both of these drives were specially designed to extend the recording capacity of DVRs in home theater setups, but they will be equally at home in media center PCs. One similarity between the two is the 8MB data buffer, where more is always better. There is no word on pricing although both CinemaStar drives will be available starting from next month onwards.
