The XO2 notebook from OLPC will not only feature any ordinary multi-touch display, but one that is improved even over the iPhone's. It will utilize an in-cell touchscreen where receptors are woven into the display itself, unlike the iPhone's that places the touch-sensitive layer between the LCD and glass. This new process not only keeps things affordable, it also results in a brighter display without the need for a surface layer. I wonder whether Apple will pursue a similar direction for their future multi-touch displays.
